Code of Conduct

Execs & Techs events are for everyone who comes to connect and learn. These standards apply to attendees, sponsors, speakers, volunteers and staff.

We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

Reporting a concern

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the Execs & Techs team immediately:

Execs & Techs team members take these concerns seriously.

Organisers can help participants contact venue security, local law enforcement, arrange escorts, or otherwise assist anyone experiencing harassment or unsafe behaviour. Your safety is important to us.

We welcome concerns of any size or seriousness. In all cases, we will make every effort to communicate clearly with anyone who reports a concern and to maintain confidentiality wherever possible.

Taking care of each other

Sometimes you may witness behaviour that does not align with our values. In these situations, please err on the side of care.

Even if an incident seems minor, consider checking in with the person affected. We also encourage you to speak directly with a member of the Execs & Techs team so we are aware of the concern and can respond appropriately.

Depending on the situation, you may also choose to speak directly with the person whose behaviour breached the Code of Conduct. These conversations can be difficult. If you are unsure how to approach the situation, contact stephen@execsandtechs.com and we will help you think through the best next step.

Committing to self-improvement

None of us is perfect. From time to time, we may fall short of the standards we expect from ourselves and each other. What matters is taking responsibility, listening with an open mind, and making a clear and genuine effort to improve.

If someone tells you that your behaviour made them feel unwelcome or unsafe, whether intentionally or not, please listen carefully and avoid becoming defensive. Acknowledge the concern, apologise where appropriate, and commit to doing better.

Participants asked to stop harassing, disruptive, or unwelcome behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

Examples of harassment

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or other personal attributes.
  • Sexual images or sexually explicit content in public spaces.
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
  • Harassing photography or recording.
  • Sustained disruption of talks, workshops, or other event activities.
  • Inappropriate physical contact.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention.

Enforcement

If a participant engages in harassing, unsafe, or unacceptable behaviour, the organisers may take any action they consider appropriate. This may include warning the participant, removing them from the event without refund, banning them from future events, or reporting the behaviour to the relevant authorities.

We expect all participants to follow this Code of Conduct at event venues, workshops, social events, sponsor activities, and all event-related online spaces.
